GMH

21/ Reading givesmehope.com makes me happy. A boy came up to me and gave me a teddy bear when I was six on valentines day. I laughed and said “Why don’t you give it to me in ten years.” He said “It’s okay, I can wait.” 10 years passed, and I received the same teddy bear with a note saying “I waited for ten years, and I still love you.” His dedication GMH --- There’s a boy in my highschool who has really long hair. My school is pretty superficial, so this has gotten him some strange looks and gossip about him. Even I thought his hair was pretty strange. That was, however, until I found out why he does that. He grows his hair for Locks of Love (wigs for cancer patients), and has been doing it since elementary school. GMH. --- I was on the bus on my way to the mall, when a homeless man sat next to me. He saw that I was looking at the bouquet of flowers he held, and told me that they were for his wife because today is her birthday. As he got off the bus, he walked into the cemetery and placed the flowers on his wife’s grave. A love that never dies GMH. --- Two months ago, my best friend died in a fire. I was told that he would’ve made it out alive, except he ran back to try save his two-year-old half-sister. They found him holding her, she died in his arms while he was trying to protect her from the flames. A brother’s LGMH --- Yesterday was the funeral of my aunt, and her two year old son was wearing a flashing pink headband. When I asked him why, he said “So Mummy can see me when she looks down from heaven” The way children can find hope in the most desperate of situations GMH --- When I was seven, my dad died. It was 9/11. Two years later we got a knock on our door. It was an elderly woman my dad had personally brought down from the 61st floor. He than rushed back in to help others and died doing so. Dying for complete strangers GMH --- I was talking with this little girl I used to babysit for before I started college. I explained to her that I’d be gone for a while and would only see her when I came home for vacations. She said, “So you’ll be gone for the whole year except summer and holidays?” I nodded. “So you’re going to Hogwarts?” --- Today I was approached by a homeless man who asked if I had any change. I only had two dimes, but I gave it to him anyway. As I watched him walk away, he put the dimes in an expired parking meter of a stranger’s car. Someone who can’t afford to buy himself something to eat but helps others GMH. --- On my way to work today, as I was getting on my exit, I noticed a police car with its lights flashing. I slowed down and watched as an officer was climbing up the hill to take the homeless men huddling under the overpass blankets and a thermos. It was -6 this morning and the city recently took down the men’s shelters. His compassion GMH. --- Today I visited my grandparents house, where I saw a valentines card on the table. The card read ‘My darling wife, you are the one who makes my life complete and I’ll love you as long as I live’. My grandad’s a widower. His undying love GMH. --- 5 days ago, my mom passed away. While I was at her house getting my things, I found a stuffed bear with a voice recorder I hadn’t seen in years. I pushed the button to play it. The sound was my mom saying “Love you, night night. Sweet dreams.” Being able to hear her voice even though she’s gone GMH --- I met a 16 year old genius who was in medical school, studying to be a pediatric neurosurgeon. He put every dollar he made at his job into a retirement fund. Why? He wanted to be able to retire at age 30, so that he could spend the rest of his life performing brain surgeries for free. His philanthropy GMH. --- There’s a really beautiful freshman in our school who a mentally challenged sophomore boy has a huge crush on. She got asked by at least 10 people to the winter formal dance, but she decided to go with the mentally challenged boy. Beautiful girls who are also beautiful inside GMH. --- My little sister Lilly was abducted. She had been gone for 6 months when the searching stopped. My mother laid her soul to rest, and we went on with our lives. Everyone except my father. He looked for 3 years and found her almost lifeless in a downstairs cellar, wearing chains. The fact that he never gave up on her GMH. --- I used to be best friends with this girl, then through our sophmore year we faded apart. Yesterday I got a text saying she had a feeling she was being called by God to talk to me. 20 minutes later I had a seizure in the middle of the mall. I’m 16, and that calling let me know God was watching over me. God’s protection GMH --- Around the time the Haiti earthquake hit, my friend came into over a $100,000 worth of scholarship money. The next day, he gave $40,000 of it to a woman who lost everything except her newborn in the quake. His big heart gives me hope. --- ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() back to the top? 3 comments
